Parent Support Groups

CoAction have been running parent support groups for 3 to 4 years for families with children with an intellectual disability. Following the introduction of the WCCDS in January 2013 these parent support groups now cater for all children attending the service. They happen once every 2 months in each area and are facilitated by the nurses in CoAction. Sometimes the parents choose to have a speaker at the groups.

The benefits for parents are:
  • Sharing information
  • Supporting each other
  • Sharing knowledge
  • Learning from other families' experiences

If you would like to know more about the parent support groups please contact the Clinical Nurse Specialist in your area;
